About

Frederick James

Frederick James designs and manufactures fashion iPad covers made out of luxury rescued and vintage fabrics such as Cashmere, Silk, Rayon, Organza and Wool. Customize your iPad and express your personality with one of our covers.

Intended Use

The Frederick James iPad covers are intended to be a lightweight sleeve, adding minimal bulk when you want to transport your iPad. They are a perfect covering to protect from scratches and nicks when you want to transport your iPad in a briefcase, purse, computer bag, backpack or other type of bag. They are perfect for when you just want to carry your iPad around on its own in a fashionable cover.

Non-Intended Use

The Frederick James iPad covers are NOT intended to be protective if you should drop your iPad while carrying it AT ALL. When carrying your iPad in a Frederick James cover by itself, handle it just as you would handle the iPad if it was not in a cover. If you drop it and it breaks, Frederick James is NOT responsible. We recommend our covers to protect from light debris while transporting an iPad in another bag.

Rescued Fabrics

At Frederick James, we do try to use as much "rescued fabric" as we can. What is "rescued fabric"? It is fabric that has already designed produced and milled for other purposes. It might be surplus fabric originally used for other products, it might be vintage fabric that has found a new life as an iPad cover, and it might be recycled fabric from other items. Focusing on "rescued fabrics" allows us to keep our carbon footprint low and provide you with an eco-friendly iPad cover.

Made in NYC / Made in the U.S.A

Frederick James does all of its production locally in the Garment District of New York City. This provides jobs for Americans and reduces shipping raw materials and finished goods to and from the country.

The Bernie Madoff iPad Covers

Frederick James is best known for our iPad covers made from Bernie Madoff's clothing. In the Fall of 2010, Frederick James obtained a limited number of personal clothing items belonging to the notorious felon, Bernie Madoff, at an auction held by the US Marshals Service.

Madoff is an incarcerated American felon, former stockbroker, investment advisor, non-executive chairman of the NASDAQ stock market, and the admitted operator of what has been described as the largest Ponzi scheme in history.

Frederick James has used the Madoff clothing to create limited edition iPad covers. This the ultimate in "rescued fabrics". Each item of clothing has been cut up to create a unique one of a kind cover.
